Pete Davidson is just like Us — he made fashion mistakes at 19 years old.
Davidson, 31, opened up about spending more money than he should have as a teen while chatting with W Magazine for a feature published on Thursday, December 12. Before he made his debut on Saturday Night Live at age 20, Davidson purchased a pair of Gucci sneakers for $875, while earning $1,000 from working on an MTV show.
“I didn’t know about taxes or paying your team or anything,” the comedian admitted, noting that he had to pick up more hours to “pay off” the lux kicks.
Davidson continued, “When I was 19, it was all about the ’fit — that was all that mattered. Now it’s health, family, humility, being a good person, not being a drug addict.” While he might have spent beyond his means on sneakers at the time, Davidson still has them in his closet over a decade later, but not for the reason you might think. “I still have them,” he told W Magazine. “They’re sitting in my closet, a reminder of how stupid I was.”
Pete Davidson Steps Out for 1st Red Carpet Appearance in Over a Year
Since rising to fame, Davidson has sported brands including Dior, Thom Browne and Off-White. One of his standout moments came at the 2023 Met Gala when he stepped out in a head-to-toe Fendi look featuring a blue, brown and white tie-dye T-shirt, satin pants and a long black trench coat. The actor accessorized with black knit gloves, a bucket hat, sunglasses and polished leather pointed-toe dress shoes. For a bit of bling, Davidson wore a long silver necklace.
Two years prior, Davidson made headlines for wearing a black Thom Browne dress at the 2021 Met Gala. Over the loosely-fitted frock, he rocked a white long-sleeve jacket featuring a black lining, which he paired with combat boots and a silver bracelet.
