Shefali Jariwala, fondly remembered as the Kaanta Laga girl, passed away at 42 on June 27, 2025, in her Mumbai residence, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest. An actress and model, Shefali became a pop culture icon after her breakout appearance in the 2002 music video, Kaanta Laga, which made her an overnight star. Before marrying actor Parag Tyagi in 2014, the late actress was married to music composer Harmeet Singh of the popular Meet Bros duo, before parting ways in 2009. After Shefali’s death, her mourning ex-husband, Harmeet, talked about the final long conversation he had with her.

Harmeet Singh remembers his last heartfelt conversation with Shefali Jariwala

While Shefali and Harmeet had a turbulent marriage, with the actress even accusing the music director of emotional abuse, they eventually became friends, leaving behind the past wounds. In a recent conversation with Vickey Lalwani, Harmeet remembered the last time he had a long and truly heartfelt conversation with Shefali, when they were on a flight back home. The musician was quoted as saying:

“I remember going to Bangladesh for a show about two to three years ago. Sunny Leone, Shefali, and I flew back together in a private plane. Shefali and I sat next to each other and spoke for quite a long time… The fact that Shefali is no more is shattering.”
