Nicholas Hoult is stepping into one of the most iconic villain roles of all time, and it turns out the very first Lex Luthor he remembers seeing is the one fans of the early 2000s know best: Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum. Long before he was cast as the tech-obsessed nemesis of the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman, Hoult was just a teenager watching the CW’s hit show from his home in Wokingham. “Smallville was on the TV a lot when I was growing up,” Hoult said to Entertainment Weekly. “I think it was on Channel 4 or Channel 5 in the U.K. growing up.”
