Although the Torchwood cast made their way into Doctor Who, no version of the franchise’s most famous Time Lord ever appeared in the spinoff show, which makes it all the more devastating that it ended three years before something that could have been absolutely fantastic. Running between 2006 and 2011, Torchwood was pretty much a self-contained story that unfolded away from Doctor Who while still existing within the same universe. It rarely made an effort to connect itself to its parent show, but there were occasional nods with props and shared characters.
