During his speech, Aadar joked that Alekha had sent him on a 20-year wait to “do timepass” before they got married. Many people on social media thought he was calling his ex-girlfriend, Tara Sutaria, a “timepass,” which caused an uproar.
In an interview with Times of India, Aadar clarified that his words were misunderstood and never meant to insult anyone. He explained that Alekha has been his close friend for years, and he would never speak badly about his past relationships. He emphasized that his family values respect for everyone and that people had taken a small part of his speech and twisted it into a false story.
Alekha also spoke up, saying she knows the truth because she and Aadar have known each other since childhood. She called the rumors unfair and baseless, adding that even Tara knows how long they have been friends. Aadar further said that just because things don’t work out in past relationships doesn’t mean anyone should spread negativity. He defended his family’s values and said he stayed silent until now out of respect, but the false stories had crossed the line.

Talking to Times Of India, Aadar said – “They say that silence is respectable to the point where things cross the line. When things cross the line, then silence is a weakness, not a strength. There are so many false narratives, false assumptions, but no fact checkers. Unfortunately, what happens is when people make up stories and say certain things, the people who get affected are the people involved and their families. In this scenario from day one, there’s been so many things written. Out of respect, everyone has been silent about it. People then take liberty to say what they want.
” It’s unfair for her (pointing towards Alekha) and her family, me and my family, her (directing at Tara) and her family. Obviously, there’s no truth to any of it. The fact is she (Alekha) is one of my oldest friends in life. I’m her oldest friend. Whatever’s been written, there is no truth behind any of it. The families we come from, we’ve been taught to respect everyone from all walks of life despite whatever society they come from; class and status doesn’t matter to us. We respect everyone, we love everyone, we take care of everyone. They misconstrued what I said and took 10 seconds of it. And then people form their own opinions about it. People have made it out to be something else and directed towards someone else. My parents always taught me to respect my past, my present and now my future. So that is how we have been brought up and we never meant to direct it towards anyone. I would not think of anyone else when I’m getting married. It’s unfortunate what happened. But there’s no truth behind any of it.”
Aadar added, “Things don’t work out for a reason. That doesn’t mean you turn out and start saying things about people. That’s not the kind of value system we have at home. Everyone has a past. She has a past. I have a past. XYZ has a past. Our parents have a past. It’s normal. That’s life… People will write things about me, and it’s no problem. But if you’re going to start writing about my wife, my family, my family values, ethics, things that reflect on my upbringing, that’s an issue.”
The Hello Charlie actor also commented, “I have maintained silence from day one, from time we’ve been together till today. But when things have crossed the line and people say whatever they want and there’s no truth. Then there’s a point where you have to stand and say, okay, this is not true. This is very uncalled for. And even after this interview, they want to say whatever they want. No problem. I have addressed it. Today is the last, first and last time I will ever address it, even going forward.”
Alekha Advani Also Comments –
Alekha adds, “I don’t have anything to say because I know the truth. I’ve lived next to this guy for my whole life. We’ve grown up together. We’ve been in each other’s friends and lives and circles for how many ever years and literally seen each other through everything. Suddenly it became like this whole other narrative and a whole other thing which was not really fair or nice. Because even she (Tara) knows that we (Aadar and I)’ve been friends for so long. This whole story is baseless.”
