Ranbir Kapoor’s sister, Riddhima Kapoor, made her on-screen debut in 2024 with the Netflix’s reality series Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives and now she will star with Kapil Sharma.
While it was a non-fiction and reportedly unscripted show, it marked her first appearance in front of the camera.
Now, just a few months later, reports suggest that Riddhima is gearing up for her Bollywood debut in a comedy film, where she will be seen alongside renowned comedian Kapil Sharma and her mother, Neetu Kapoor.
The upcoming comedy film will be directed by Ashish R Mohan, known for previously directing Khiladi 786 starring Akshay Kumar and Himesh Reshammiya, as well as Welcome to Karachi featuring Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani.
A source revealed details to Pinkvilla, stating, “Kapil Sharma has shed some weight for his next film, which is being helmed by Ashish R Mohan. It’s a full-blown comedy and is set to begin filming in Chandigarh by mid-April. The Mahurat ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, followed by an extensive shoot. It’s a situational comedy, and the makers have assembled a strong ensemble cast for the project.”
The film is slated for a theatrical release, though the makers are currently keeping the title under wraps.
Speaking about the cast, the source shared, “This Ashish R Mohan directorial will mark Riddhima Kapoor Sahni’s debut on the big screen, and she’s thrilled to enter the world of cinema with a comedy. Neetu Kapoor also plays a significant role in the film and is at the center of all the chaos.”
Riddhima Kapoor becomes the fourth woman from the Kapoor family to step into films, following in the footsteps of Shashi Kapoor’s daughter Sanjana Kapoor (Hero Hiralal), as well as Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
Meanwhile, Kapil Sharma is making his return to the silver screen with Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, directed by Anukalp Goswami and also featuring Manjot Singh.
