Animation is such an interesting form of storytelling, as it has the arduous task of convincing audiences to care about characters that only exist as drawings, computer models, or lumps of clay. And yet, more often than not, it succeeds thanks to the injection of the human soul through the directors, animators, writers, and voice actors. Today, thousands of animated films exist to delight and inspire audiences, with many of the best integrating into the bones of popular culture. From Disney’s classic line-up to the works of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, animation has shown that it is far from just material for children, but a legitimate art form capable of anything.
