For the unversed, during the mid-70s, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar worked as an apprentice under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s early life and education
The humanitarian leader, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, was born on May 13, 1956, in Papanasam, Tamil Nadu. The spiritual guru was born on Sunday, so he was named Ravi and the last name ‘Shankar’ was kept after Adi Sankara, the eighth-century Hindu saint. Gurudev Ravi Shankar was considered to be a gifted child. For the uninitiated, at the tender age of 4, the spiritual leader could recite parts of the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Sanskrit scripture. From a very young age, he was often found in deep meditation.
