

Murali Naik, an Indian Army jawan hailing from the Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh, succumbed to injuries during the heavy shelling from Pakistan across the Line of Control (LoC) on May 9, 2025. Murali was serving the Indian army and was fighting in the frontline, as a part of Operation Sindoor, to avenge the Pahalgam attack. Who was Murali Naik?
Murali Naik was a resident of Kalli Thanda village under Gorantla mandal in Andra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai district. Murali completed his schooling at Vigyan High School in Somandepalli, Andhra Pradesh. According to the Press Trust of India (PTI) reports, Murali joined the Indian Army in November 2022 as an Agniveer and underwent training at Nashik, Maharashtra. The Army jawan belonged to the 851 Light Regiment of the Indian Army’s Northern Command. Murali’s parents, Mudavath Sriram Naik and Jyothibai, worked as labourers in the construction industry in Mumbai, and returned to their village after Murali, their only son, joined the Army.
