The tragic crash of Air India’s AI171 has left hundreds of families in pain. The afternoon of June 12, 2025, cast the entire country in the dark shadows of grief and heartbreak after the ill-fated flight took away the lives of 241 onboard people, which included 219 passengers and 12 crew members. The aircraft crashed on the roof of a medical college hostel, resulting in several other deaths. Raxa Modha came to India to fulfil her husband’s last wish and lost her life in the tragedy
Raxa Modha had come to India with her daughter-in-law, Yasha Kamdar, and her two-year-old grandson, Rudra. The 55-year-old was visiting the country from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. She and her two-year-old grandson were on the ill-fated flight and lost their lives as they were flying back to England for the cremation and memorial service for Raxa’s late husband, Kishor.
