As it did when it debuted in theaters earlier this year, Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza‘s Warfare dropped on streaming with a bang. The war thriller, which sort of underperformed at the box office but earned excellent reviews, beat a Denzel Washington blockbuster in its first two days of release on Prime Video. Featuring an ensemble cast of young male stars, Warfare was based on a real-life incident experienced by Mendoza, who served in the Iraq War. The movie made a little over $30 million worldwide against a reported budget of $20 million.
