Jurassic World Rebirth is set to release in theatres on July 2, 2025. Directed by Gareth Edwards and penned by David Koepp, this seventh instalment reboots the story five years after Dominion. The story takes place in a remote island research facility where the characters are assigned to locate remaining prehistoric species. Scarlett Johansson headlines the movie as covert operative ‘Zora Bennett’, joined by Mahershala Ali, who plays ‘Duncan Kincaid’, and Jonathan Bailey as ‘Dr. Henry Loomis’. Despite the stellar star cast, it’s someone else who is sparking the most excitement. Meet ‘Dolores’, the adorable juvenile Aquilops everyone can’t get enough of.

What is an Aquilops?

Aquilops, meaning eagle-face, it was a real dinosaur, a small ceratopsian from the early Cretaceous period, approximately 109-104 million years ago. It was identified from fossils found in Montana. It stood under a foot tall and were less than two feet long; the humble herbivore likely weighed about 1.5 kg. Scientists confirm that, although only their skull is known, the overall body plan remains plausible based on close relatives, a fact that was paid attention to in the movie and the palaeontologists appreciated when seeing the on-screen representation of the species.
