Although the colorful art style, rhythmic pacing, idiosyncratic dialogue, and symmetrical framing are all key elements of Wes Anderson’s style, his films are also hallmarked by several recurring cast members who have appeared in multiple productions. Anderson established a core set of collaborators early on in his career, as Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, and Willem Dafoe all proved themselves adaptable to the unusual roles he had written for them. Anderson has never remained static and has continued to add new members to the extended “family” of performers that pop up in his films. Scarlett Johansson and Rupert Friend have recently become part of this active group of collaborators with Anderson, and gave some of their best performances ever in Asteroid City.
