Superman is here, and as expected, there’s a lot of noise, buzz, congratulations, and of course, controversies. First things first, James Gunn has succeeded in restoring DC fanatics’ long-lost confidence and hope in DC movies. After a series of major disappointments in the DCEU and everything that had happened with Zack Snyder, the DC fans were keeping their expectations low for this one. However, James Gunn has once again proved the mettle of his cinematic genius as the casting of David Corenswet as ‘Superman’ has impressed cinephiles.
James Gunn’s Superman saves DC fans’ hope: David Corenswet and Nathan Fillion shine as ‘Clark Kent’ and ‘Guy Gardner’
Initially, there was a huge backlash over the casting of David Corenswet as hardcore DC fans were still rooting for Henry Cavill’s return. However, by the end of 2022, when Henry Cavill confirmed that he would not be returning as ‘Clark Kent’ after all, people were forced to move on and accept the arrival of Corenswet. For the uninitiated, James Gunn’s Superman is the first film in DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The film is off to a flying start as Deadline reported that Superman has netted around USD 21 million-plus in previews.
